Hotel Aldan
Rooms are situated in three historical buildings from the turn of the 19th century, which are divided into three hotels; Hotel Aldan, Hotel Snæfell, and the Old School. In these two buildings there are offer 18 beautiful rooms on offer as well as 2 fully equipped apartments, each with its own unique soul and characteristics.
Hotel Aldan used to house the bank of Seydisfjordur for almost a century and before that one of the first hotels in Iceland. All effort has been made to preserve the historical atmosphere while adding modern convenience.
Due to the flexible architectural layout several rooms can be combined so they either form suites or family rooms for 4 to 6 persons, without adding any extra beds.
Hotel Snæfell is a three story wooden house built in 1908 situated by the mouth of the river Fjardara. It has beautiful views over the small bay in the center of town. This natural estuary is home to bird life, trout and the occasional Atlantic Grey Seal. The house was first used as the local post office and then in 1943 it was turned into a hotel.
The Old School used to be Seydisfjördur’s school. This two story building offers 2 fully equipped apartments that both have 2 double rooms as well as a fully equipped kitchen, and a bathroom with a washing machine and a dryer.
The reception for checking in is situated in our red building on Nordurgata 2. It is the red building you can see at the cross-road when you are coming from Egilsstadir.
You can also have breakfast in that same building: We serve it from 7:30 to 10 everyday; Walk-ins are welcome.
